2021 Virtual Fish Friends

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, not all the schools who wanted to raise salmon in their classrooms were able to. Fortunately, there are many Fish Friends around the state willing to help! Check in here regularly to learn from these Fish Friends across Maine this winter and spring. Note that captions appear below each video.

Ontario, Canada also runs a program very similar to Fish Friends.
Their program is virtual in 2021 and they have tons of great videos and resources here.

ASF’s Maine Headwaters Project has removed more than 40 barriers to fish passage in recent years, reopening hundreds of miles of stream habitat blocked since the 1800s. Check out the stunning new video that includes rare footage of Atlantic salmon, which are making a historic comeback.
